It's perfect umbrella weather today. That's because this is Korea, and it's umbrella weather every day. Why? Because you don't need a reason.

Umbrellas are available in all convenience stores. They're colored, lacy, festooned with Hellow Kitty ears or characters from the Avengers. It's an essential part of any wardrobe. And, unlike those stupid fashion glasses without lenses, they actually serve a purpose.

It's an integral part of the national psyche here that every possible weather condition can be assuaged with an umbrella. Too sunny? Pop 'er up. Snowing? Can't get that on your hair--whip out the umbrella. Rainy? Well, that's a no-brainer.

Its possible to see an open umbrella on the street every day of the year.
